Guru Nanak Jayanti is a Sikh festival that celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. The festival is also known as Gurpurab and is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Kartik, as per the Nanakshahi calendar. People dress up in traditional clothes and visit Gurudwaras to offer prayers. Guru Nanak Jayanti is a time to remember the teachings of Guru Nanak and to celebrate his life and legacy. Guru Nanak was born on April 15, 1469, in the village of Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib, in the Punjab province of present-day Pakistan. Guru Nanak’s birth is celebrated as Gurpurab. Guru Nanak was a spiritual leader and a social reformer. He traveled far and wide, spreading his message of love, peace, and equality. Guru Nanak’s teachings are preserved in the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Nanak’s birthday is celebrated as Gurpurab or Guru Nanak’s Prakash Utsav
